Kalevala's Day

The 28th February is the Kalevala's Day.

Kalevala is Finnish National Epic Poem that is considered as one of the most significant works of Finnish language literature. It is the day when the auther, Lönnrot, signed the preface, in 1835.

On the Kalevala's Day, there were not many events in Helsinki. However, one free concert was held in my university building, so I went to listen.

They played three tunes;Virkku, Nosztalgiaim and Venäläinen Konsertto. The first two were very different from ordinal classical music, using very different technich and the sound. The last music was a beautiful canon. It was very interesting and enjoyable to listen to.
