Mid-summer

In Finland, the things are usually celebrated on the Eve.

It is the same for Mid-summer festival. It is celebrated on the 20th and not 21st.

Well, I did A LOT of things on the day!!

First,

Bicycle.

Yes, I went on bicycle!!

This is a so called City Bike, which is rented for anyone, any time, to go around the centre of Helsinki.

Rental fee of 2 Euro. But it comes back when you return☆

YEAH♬♪

Caution!!! This bike didn't have the brake!! And, remember, it is ME who rode on it. I have almost no reflection... DANGEROUS!!!!!

Yes, I fell off once. hehe Never mind! I'm OK!! Just a bit of bump.

Next, we went to Seurasaari.

There are 5 Kokkos (bonfires) in this event, and a couple is married here every year.

The first one is lit by children.

Then the married couple lit little ones. (They are not the bonfires!)

DSC00243.jpg
The 2nd and 3rd ones are lit by a man.

After that, the 2nd biggest one is lit,

DSC00250.jpg
and the final biggest one is lit with the sound of a gun. BONG!

Well, the bonfires are not lit at the same times. It takes 2 hours and half to lit them all.

So, while waiting for the things to be lit,

there are some play,

DSC00184.jpg
and the dances.

mmm?What?The photos are too dark???

Ah....sorry. It's because the celebration was in the evening.... oh, not a good excuse.. yes I know.. But, but, you see,

DSC00174.jpg
it was raining swinging lot!

DSC00245.jpg
Despite the rain, there are quite a few people coming.

After all bonfires are lit,

Stilts!!!!!!!Yes, I walked on the stilts!! I used to do it a lot when I was in junior school, but I hadn't even seen it since. But the long gap didn't really matter. My body remembered how to walk on them** Just a problem. My foot are much bigger than they used to be, so little changed on the foot needed. hehe

It made me want to do monocycle☆ When I was in Niigata, it was the stilts I always did, and when I was in Kobe, it was monocycle♪(Bicycle was the last one I got on ride・・・)

The finale was,

dancing with the music☆♪★♪

I thought of going home so many times during the awful rain, but being made stay by my friends, I was there until 11 pm. But I think I've seen enough bonfires in Seurasaari during this 2 years, so next time will be on the TV. Digital view would be enough! haha!!

Well, you may enjoy the summer darkness, a little different from the winter one!!笑
